It is a road trip with one destination and a small group that stays small. Every stop is a self contained problem, you solve it, you get back on the road.
Later parts have more going on and I do not think that made any of them better.

Go from the early parts to the later ones and it barely looks like the same series. Everyone gets narrower, the faces change completely, the panelling calms down.
Nobody mentions this when they tell you to start at part 1. It is genuinely a bit disorienting.
Not a complaint either way, just something you go in without knowing.

Every thread on this ends the same way. Someone says start at part 1, someone says skip to part 3, someone says just read it in order you cowards.

in order, and part 1 is short enough that skipping it saves you almost nothing. newfriends always want to skip it and always regret it.
